Lucan Place draws inspiration from Chelsea’s timeless Victorian mansions, reinterpreting their architectural character through a contemporary design approach. The development brings together traditional elegance and modern construction, creating a building that is firmly connected to its historic surroundings while presenting a distinctive and forward-looking identity.

CubeX Industries was appointed to translate artist Jodie Carey’s original concept into a practical and accurately manufactured architectural element. This required the development of precision-engineered moulds capable of reproducing the artwork’s intricate forms, fine surface textures and subtle visual details with a high degree of consistency.

The panels were cast using CubeX Ultra-High-Performance Concrete, selected for its exceptional strength, durability and ability to flow into complex mould geometries. The material’s fine particle structure and high fluidity enabled the artwork to be reproduced with clarity and precision, while its strength allowed the panels to remain refined and visually delicate without compromising long-term performance. Its dense, low-permeability composition also provides strong resistance to moisture penetration, weathering and gradual deterioration, supporting the longevity of the architectural artwork.

CubeX worked closely with the artist, the employer and the main contractor, De Group Contracting Ltd, to ensure that the artistic intent was preserved while also meeting the practical requirements of manufacture, coordination and installation. This collaborative approach enabled the original concept to be developed into a durable architectural feature that contributes to the building’s contemporary interpretation of Chelsea’s historic character.
